Heavy impasto oil with palette knife & brush on canvas, 48" x 60". The sun with its deep, dark core is a feature of many Schwaderer landscapes of this period, and are a feature of many of Hirschfeld's paintings at this time as well.
The figure at the boat in foreground is simplified into geometrics, and the trees are strongly reduced into geometric forms. Colors are contrasted strongly, and no one color is used to define any given area. Reflected light and color are an important element in Schwaderer's paintings.
