Landscape Longbarn, 1968

Heavy impasto oil with palette knife & brush on Masonite board, 24" x 36". Strong, intense pigments are very prevalent in this later period of Schwaderer's painting life. Again, the mountains are reduced to very inorganic geometric shapes, the only natural organic shape being the plant in the center foreground. Predominantly cool colors on the left are powerfully contrasted with the hot pgiments on the right, then darkly shadowed in the right foreground.
