Online Exhibit System:
Claude Needham along with Richard Hart continue development toward the long awaited educational system "Library Online Exhibit System" affectionately called Loes (pronounced Lois as in Superman's girl friend).

We are happy to report the primary design is mostly complete and they anticipate work on coding in Java and C++ beginning this spring. They assure us that coding in Java will make the system available to all Libraries, Schools, and individuals independent of the operating system.

LOES FAQ

What will LOES do?
The Online Exhibit System is being designed to accept text and pictures in a simple format easy for any computer newbie and then integrate that material into a web-based exhibit.

Any computer newbie?
Well, almost any newbie. The point is, we are making the system as user friendly as possible so that the instructor or docent trained in the educational material may interact directly with the exhibit format without working through a third-party programmer or webmaster. It's hard enough to be creative without trying to force that effort through the fingers of another.

When can we expect to see LOES in operation?
That all depends upon the next phase. We've worked out many of the bugs in the design, now we need to begin work on the actual coding. We hope to see preliminary projects in operation by next winter.

How can we help?
Well, if you know anyone that can "Se Habla Java" that would be a help. Otherwise, our financial needs are modest at this time. However, be aware that as soon as this project is complete all of the curators will have anything but modest needs for photography and image processing. That's where the help will be most welcome.
