Cut on an irregular trapezoidally shaped crate siding from a consignment of parasols, splitting of the block caused by annual rings across the image plate -- the rings have risen prominently above the image surface and a transverse depression runs downward from elbow to thigh. Upper edge of the block shows four deep holes left by crating nails which had been removed to carve the block.
Contour lines were cut with a knife, sunken patches were scraped out with the knife-point, and the marks of a flat burin can be detected in only a few insignificant areas of the block. Along the right edge three iron nail holes along with two iron nails still in the wood can clearly be seen. Along the left edge is one nailhold and an iron nail remaining in the wood.
