Mars Pathfinder. On July 4 1997 the Mars Pathfinder landed on the planet Mars. If you have been following the news you know that all is going well. Meant to be a short - 1 to 2 week - duration mission to test new technology used for the first time on this mission it now looks like the Pathfinder mission will be operational for 3 to 6 months.
